“If you had the chance to change the situation, would you take it?”
Breaking into the hip-hop world is tough, it was even tougher in the 1980s. Straight Outta Compton is praised for it’s brutally honest depiction of the hip-hip industry in 1986. The film focuses on five up and coming artists, Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins), Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren. With the help of a great manager, Jerry Heller guiding these guys through every step they become breakout artists and find their place as founding fathers of the hip-hop industry. The actors did a great job in the sense that they really got into character and were emotionally invested in the film. You really got the feeling that these guys cared about the story they were telling and they wanted to tell the truth not just make another hip-hop movie. Original members of the group N.W.A were involved in the production of the film and were involved as creative consultants.
